Charities
At Wilbraham Primary, we are proud of our continuing commitment to charity. Each year, we take part in various charity events to help support a number of good causes. We raise hundreds of pounds each time thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our children and their families.
There is never an expectation for anyone to donate and we try to be mindful of the cost of everyday living which is why we stick to three main charitable events each year:
- Children in Need (November)
- Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day (December)
- Sport/Comic Relief (March)
?
In the past, we have also organised other events suggested to us by children and parents/carers for charities such as Macmillan Cancer Care and Crisis Funds for tragedies around the world.
We want the children to be aware that any size of donation can have an impact, they can reach out to others and show love and compassion and be shown that they can make a difference in the world.
BBC Children in Need is the BBC's official UK charity. With the money that the public raise, Children in Need provide grants to projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Total amount raised for Children in Need (2019): over£1,500.00 |
As one of the UK's biggest fundraising events, Red Nose Day has become something of a British Institution. It's the day, every two years, when people across the country can get together and do something funny to raise money. All money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries. Red Nose Day for 2017 was celebrated on Friday 24th March 2017 and Wilbraham Primary took part in a day of fundraising by selling red noses, raffle tickets and comic books made by our children in school. Total amount raised for Red Nose Day (2017):£642.20 |
Thank you to all of our parents/carers and children for their continued support to all the charitable events that we run here at Wilbraham Primary School.
