MFL
Foreign Language Statement of Intent:
At Wilbraham Primary School, Arabic is taught as our Foreign Language to engage, stimulate and encourage our pupil’s curiosity around languages as well as recognise its role in our multicultural community. Arabic is our chosen language as it is widely represented in the Manchester area and our local school’s population. Through this program we hope to foster strong community relations with both our local and wider world community. It is our intent to cultivate the children`s interest in learning other languages and curiosity of the world around them.
Our focus is practical communication taught weekly throughout Key Stage 2 and delivered by a highly qualified native Arabic speaker and teacher.. Lessons are taught through a metacognitive approach which supports the embedding of listening and speaking skills thus promoting confidence and substantial progression in learning a language. The Arabic program is carefully designed to support both our Arabic speakers and non-Arabic speakers.
