I was delighted this week to take our girls football team to Newhall Green High School.  They played three games and won all three (3-1, 1-0, 1-0).  I was so proud of how well they played.

Fantastic Displays.

We have had lots of important people coming to school recently and they have commented on how impressed they are with our displays.  I love the underwater theme display that the early years team have put up in the Y3/4 stairwell.  Which is your favourite display around school?

The Daily Mile.

We have had a great start back in January and I have been especially impressed at the number of classes that have been taking part in our daily mile challenge.  I think it is wonderful to see so many pupils, staff and parents joining in with completing their daily walk, jog or run around the school grounds.  Many of the teachers have commented on the positive impact it is having on their class, with improvements in concentration, stamina and behaviour.  Well done to everyone that is taking part and I am looking forward to seeing which class will win the end of term prize.

Last week of term.

Well it's been a very busy end of term.  There have been lots of parties and fun activities going on.  I especially enjoyed the singing squares, the school choir singing live on Blue Peter and taking our after school Reading Club for a treat to the cinema to see Paddington 2, which was fantastic.

For those families celebrating Christmas, I would like to wish you a wonderful time and I would like to wish everyone a peaceful and happy New Year.

Looking forward to having everyone back safe and sound in 2018.

Joining a Multi Academy Trust.

I have been working with many new people lately that are part of the Multi Academy Trust (MAT) called Aspire Educational Trust, who we will be joining in the New Year.  It has been a very exciting time as I am meeting lots of interesting people that can support us in becoming even better at teaching and learning.  We have been looking at new ways of teaching Maths, which is called the Mastery Approach.  Mrs Ashcroft who is part of Aspire has asked to be included in our staff pantomime this year, so look out for a new teacher in the production to see if you can work out who it is.

I have been lucky enough to go with Mr Williams and twelve pupils on the Forest School programme and have loved every minute.  So far we have made dens, hiked up hills, paddled in streams, played games and lit a small fire to make hot chocolate, it has been fantastic and I am really looking forward to going again next week.

Wilbraham in "The Good OI' Days"

I recently received an email from a former teacher that worked at Wilbraham Primary School in the 1960's.  He very kindly sent me a link to a film that he took from when children from the school went on a residential trip with school to Anglesey.  The children in this video will now be in their 60's.  I have attached the links below for you to have a look at the similarities and differences of school residential trips from back then to how they are now.
I would like to thank Roy Unwin for very kindly sending these videos to us.

Welcome back.

I would like to welcome both our existing pupils and our new children that will be joining us this September.  During the holidays we had some exciting new work completed as part of our Forest School programme, which included a den making area, a tepee and a fire pit.  We are also having a new roof fitted to the original building, so no more drips and leaks!

A week to remember.

We have come to the end of a very strange and busy last week of half term.  With the terrible suicide bombing that happen on Monday evening, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone that has been affected by such a horrific incident.  The whole Wilbraham family has been in a state of shock and disbelief, however out of this there have been so many acts of kindness and love from the children, parents and staff.  Messages of support in our main hall that children have written, generous donations to the victim's families and a feeling of unity as proud citizens of Manchester that such hateful crimes have no place in our city.

I would like to wish everyone a peaceful half term and look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 5th June.
