What a fantastic start to the year. Reception have been very busy this half term learning all about Autumn and noticing the different changes in our environment. Such as the way the leaves have been changing colour on the trees in our forest area.
We have been reading the book 'owl Babies by Martin Waddell. The children found owl feather in our forest area and discussed where they had come from. They then pretended to be owls and built their own nest and went hunting for worms!
The children took on the form of the different characters from the story and answered questions from the audience. Here is one of our children pretending to be 'mummy owl'!
The children have loved exploring the short story and text 'Hair Love' by Mathew Cherry. It generated some wonderful discussions around caring for ourselves and who is able to look after us. Many of the children were very excited to go home and try out a new hair style with their grown ups. Please take a look at the short story on YouTube!
