Problem Solving
There are many different aspects to problem solving within Mathematics. Children will work on problems involving finding all possibilities, logic puzzles, describing patterns and visual puzzles.
This area concerns word problems.
Word problems allow children to show what they can do in their Mathematics. The children need to be able to decide what Mathematics will be required to answer the question.
At Wilbraham Primary School, we have a systematic approach to teaching word problem solving. Children are introduced to word problems in the Foundation Stage and continue through the school. The Word Problems become more complex as the children progress.
