Good Morning Nursery :)
Today is Thursday. Can you remember what day it was yesterday? What day will it be tomorrow? What day do you like the best?
Have a listen to the days of the week song to help you.
Activity One - Days of the week.
Today a special festival is celebrated ... it's called Bonfire Night.
What is Bonfire Night and how do we celebrate?
You may have heard or seen fireworks in the sky last night. Have a peek at the video below to see some wonderful fireworks.
Activity Two - Observation.
Parents & Carers
Allow your child to watch the video clip above and discuss the following questions.
1- What noises can you hear? ( Pop , Bang, Fizz etc)
2- What colours can you see? Which colours are the brightest?
3- How do you think the fireworks make people feel?
Activity Three - Movement
Let's think about how the fireworks move in the sky. Some shoot up high , some swirl round and round and others stretch out wide across the sky.
Can you pretend to be a firework.. how will you move your whole body? Can you create a fireworks dance?
You could use a piece of ribbon / material or decorate a piece of white toilet roll with felt tips and hold it whilst you dance.
There are some ideas / music below to help you with your movements.
Perhaps an adult could video you or take a picture and send it to your nursery teacher. We'd love to see fabulous little sparklers shine!
Activity 4 - Science
For this task you will need an adult to help you.
You will need:
Two empty glasses
Food colouring ( Various colours)
1) Pour warm water into one of the empty glass until it's 3/4's full.
2) In the other empty glass, pour a few spoonfuls of oil into the glass .
3) Then add 4 drops of food colouring.
4) Add some different drops of food colouring to the oil.
5) Using the fork, mix the food colouring and oil together.
6) Finally, pour the coloured oil into the glass of warm water.
7) Watch what happens! Can you see a mini firework show?
Can you draw what you can see? Could your adult send your teacher a picture of your investigation?
If you don't have the items to do the investigation don't worry. Instead you can create your own firework picture. You can use crayons, felt tips , paints or tissue paper.
What colours will you use in your picture?
We hope you had fun doing some of today's tasks. We can't wait to see you tomorrow at school where we will be doing some more learning about Bonfire Night.
The Nursery Team xx
Good Morning Nursery!
We hope you have enjoyed getting busy with some of the activities posted this week.
Here are today's activities for you to join in with at home!
It's time to shake your sillies out and join in with this action song to get our bodies moving and have some silly fun!
Can you make your own sound shaker? You can do this with either a plastic bottle and fill this with rice or pasta; or you could use a toilet roll and cellotape!
Challenge: Can you make a loud noise or a quiet noise? Can you shake it fast or slow?
Can you shake this to a nursery rhyme you know and perform it to your family?
Let's go on a number hunt! What numbers can you find in your house?
You could draw or take pictures of the numbers you find.
Challenge: Your adults could also write out numbers 1 to 5, cut these out and hide them around your home or garden. Each time you find one, see if you can tell your adult what number you have found!
