Our on-site group enjoyed their last session this week. They were able to consolidate their learning by putting up a shelter, without any adult help!! They also learnt some new skills, including whittling and fire lighting. They talked about the importance of safety when using tools and lighting fires. They used the wood that they had whittled to light a fire, in the Kelly Kettle, to make some hot chocolate! What a treat!!
Leena has enjoyed her experience so much, that she wanted to contribute to the final blog. At forest school we have a lot of fun and we learnt a lot of surviving tips. We made tents/shelters, fire, pictures and picture frames. We learnt how to make a fire; use flint and steel; cut wood with a knife; make really really strong knots to make the shelters and many other stuff . We got to drink hot chocolate and orange juice and I hope I go again.
