After a couple of unfortunate weeks of bad weather we finally managed to get out to the Alderly Edge forest as one big group! Nabina, Ruqayyah, Nazneen, Asnat, Fatima, Alisha, Fahad and Husnain surged into the forest with enthusiasm, where first we explored and tried to remember how to build shelters. Despite a bit of early morning frost, some jogging around and discovering different places in the forest quickly warmed us up.
In the afternoon we traveled a long way through the forest, visiting a cave, traversing along some rocks, stumbling across a fantastic view of Manchester, and walking in and around a waterfall!
This week to prepare us for going to forest school we had some time at the on-site forest area. Here we talked about what we would do, see and find in the Alderly Edge forest. We decided to practise making a shelter, so that we would be better prepared to build one again next week, and played some games to learn how to trust and help each other. We ended the day with a hot chocolate in the tepee!
