When parents come along to school meetings, EAL team are around to support them. EAL team members speak Arabic, Urdu, Somali, Swahili, Polish, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, German, Azari and Turkish.
Parents who come along to our Maths and Reading meetings really help their children to learn so much more. Here are photos of parents and children learning how to use Numicon sets in one of Mrs Wright's maths sessions. Children love it when their parents get involved in their learning! At Talk English this week , we have been practicing English with our friends, learning what to say at the doctors, supporting each other and growing in confidence each week.
Today's session was great! Jenny and Azam helped us to confidently ask each other questions in English.
We will practise our new questioning skills with other people that we meet this week. Come join us on Wednesday mornings from 9am-10am to take part in our Talk English Cafe sessions. Theses sessions are informal, drop in sessions where you can come and have the opportunity to practise your conversational English, make friends and improve your confidence in speaking English. The better your spoken English becomes...the more you can help your children! Sometimes there will be free trips out of school for parents to explore local museums, art galleries and learning centres. The photos below show our last trip to Manchester Museum where the group learned about the Egyptians and had lots of opportunities to socialise with other parents and to practise their spoken English.
