For Science week, we are looking at 'smashing stereotypes' in STEM. We all probably have an idea in our head of what a scientist should look like (Albert Einstein) but we hope to break this idea down, to show the children that anyone, any race, gender, religion or sex can follow their dreams. We will be exploring the different scientists, including, Janipal Sachdev and Hanna Ayoob, who smash the stereotype of a 'typical' scientist. We hope this will inspire some of our children to see themselves in these roles in the future.
5B will also be taking place in the Wilbraham 'biscuit dunking investigation', where we plan to answer the age old question: Which is the best biscuit to dunk in a brew? The children will choose their own variables and plan the investigation themselves, deciding which variables to control. My favourite biscuit is a bourbon, but I wonder whether it is too sugary to be a good dunker?
