We have had an amazing start to our Geography topic this half term of Natural Disasters.
We began with simulating an Earthquake in the classroom, we discovered how to react to an Earthquake and looking at lots of different types of disasters and their characteristics.
Next, we learnt about the layers of the Earth and their properties through making our own plasticine models. They look fab!
Then, we investigated how the outer layer, the crust, is not one solid piece but lots of different pieces that fit together like a jigsaw. These pieces are called Tectonic plates.
We investigated how they move with lots of different materials, most importantly, Oreos!
We used the Oreos to show the 3 different movements of Tectonic plates and looked at what those movements cause or create on our planet.
