This week in Literacy we have continued using story 'The Very Busy Spider' by Eric Carle. We focused on writing this week. We took the sentence, 'I am too busy', from the story, cut it up and put it back together in the correct order. We read the sentence pointing at each word as we read it. We talked about which word came 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. and where we needed to put the full stop. We then wrote the sentence, thinking carefully about the letter formation.
In maths we have been learning to compare groups of objects and use the words more or fewer. We have also been learning about number 5.
As always we have done lots of other exciting things like developing our fine motor skills by using a pipette to transfer coloured water, spreading chocolate spread onto rice crackers and practising our letter and number formation. Here are some photos of the week.
We have loved our first full week back after the half term. Things feel a bit more normal (finger's crossed).
This week we have been singing the rhyme 'Incy Wincy Spider' and the Story 'The very busy Spider' by Eric Carle. Here is a link to the story on Youtube:
We have named all the animals in the story, made puppets and acted out the story. We also matched the sentences spoken in the book to the correct animal. The children were amazing at remembering which animal said what.
In Maths we have been practising our positional language especially the words on, under, in, next to, in between, behind and in front. We will keep practising 'in between' as that is a tricky one!
We also ordered a family of spiders by size, starting with the biggest spider all the way down to the teeny weeniest, smallest spider.
Here are some of the other things we have been up to this week including working on our targets and celebrating Children in Need Day. The children all looked amazing in their rainbow colours!
Good morning children and parents of class 1G. I'm so sorry that we cannot be at school together today but I can't wait to see you all on Thursday. Please can you ensure that you use the instructions (given to you before half term in your child's book bag) to log into google classroom. Don't worry if you have lost the instructions as I am planning to give you all a quick phone call today to help. I will also give you some ideas of home learning activities you can do over the next 3 days. Alternatively, please email me at
See you all soon
