we have talked Yet another busy week in 1G!
We have been focusing on hearing the last sound in CVC words. We played a game on Topmarks to find the final sound. The game is called 'The slide Game'. Here is the link if you would like to play at home.
In Maths we have been using the cherry model to find all the different ways of making number 4 (eg 1+3, 4+0, 2+2). We also used 4 matchsticks to see what shapes we could make.
We have also been practising holding scissors correctly and effectively for cutting straight and curved lines, forming the letters in our name correctly. We use long ribbons outside to make big movements to build up our muscles.
We have loved playing hairdressers as well this week. the children enjoyed styling the dolls hair and pretending to put make-up on them. We have talked about the seasons and sorted the things we would see at different times of the year. We have made Stick-Men with the sticks we collected last week at forest school.
Yesterday we practised peeling and cutting a banana and had our snack outside while the sun was shining! Mrs Molla read us a story. Its one of our favourites 'The Wide-Mouthed Frog'.
Please note that our new drop off and pick up point will be at the tree in the middle of the playground. The drop off time is 9.00am please try not to come before this time. The pick up time is 3.15pm, again, please try not to come into the playground before 3.15pm. Please wait by the tree and we will bring your child to you.
So far we have not had to close class 1G due to covid 19. If this happens we have learning packs ready to send home for you. In addition we have our own google classroom page on which I will post activities to do with your child each day. So that we are prepared, I would like you to make sure you set up google classroom at home. You will need to download 'google classroom' onto your device. You can do this on tablets, phones, laptops and computers. Just put google classroom into the search bar or app store and follow the instructions.
You will then need to sign into google classroom using your child's school email address. I will send these home on Monday with the new reading books. The password will also be with it. Once you have logged in, you will find an email invitation to join our google classroom page. Click on the link and follow the instructions. If you have any problems with this please let me know and I will try my best to help you.
Now for the best part. This week we have been practising spelling and forming the letters correctly in cvc words. We have also been investigating the number 4. We played a bus game where we found different ways 4 passengers should sit on the bus (e.g one on the top deck and 3 on the lower deck). We have also been doing some fine motor exercises with Mrs Dase. The children enjoyed making spiders with pipe cleaners and using the dough for build up the muscles in our hands . We also retold the story of Little Red Riding Hood again.
Today Mrs Molla set up a fantastic Dinosaur area for us to play with. We had great fun developing our language and sharing skills.
Here are the photos of our week. I can't wait until next week! Have a good weekend.
This week in 1G we have been trying to get outside as much as possible before the weather worsens. On Monday afternoon we visited our school forest area. We spent all afternoon searching for leaves to paint with, looking closely at the other things we found and we even had a little picnic. Here are some photos...
In phonics we have been focusing on segmenting cvc words into their individual sounds. This is something we find tricky so we need lots of practise. In literacy Mrs Molla has been helping us retell the story of Little Red Riding Hood using masks and puppets. It is so much fun and the children have taken their roles very seriously!
As well as all this, we have been working hard on our individual targets. Of course we have had lots of fun along the way!
