This afternoon we made our own Eiffel Towers using art straws.
Can you remember any of the facts that we learnt?
We found this parcel outside our door! Then Penguins had left us a book called ' Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. We have really enjoyed reading just a little bit of the story each day. We came across lots of vocabulary that we didn't know eg- ignored ,discovered, harbor , found . We thought of action for these words and looked up their meaning. We are now much more confident using these words in the correct context.
We've been doing lots of different activities around this story including packing a suitcase , rowing a boat , drama activities, discovering where the SouthPole is and what countries you would pass on your way there.
Have a look at the pictures to see us planning our trip to the South Pole and have a look at what we would pack for the journey.
Another great turn out for Stay and Read. This week the penguins left instructions and salt dough. We had to read the instructions to make our own salt dough penguins. It was lots of fun!
When they dry we will paint them and then take them home. Thanks again to all the parents and siblings who came into school to help.
Telling the time can be tricky but we know it's a really useful skill to have.
Why do we need to be able to tell the time? ( Comment below)
We've been reading o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times. We made our own clocks and have enjoyed playing time games to help us learn these times.
When you are at home can you practise reading the time with your family? what time do you go to bed at? What time do you get up at in the morning? What time is your favourite cartoon on at?
What a strange morning we had at WPS..... when we walked down the corridor there were lots of Penguin pictures all over the Ks1 corridors. There was fish in our snack basket and umbrellas hanging from the roof! Then we found a mystery parcel left by our door. The note on the parcel read....
Dear Year 2,
Enjoy this gift. See you all later. Love P xx
Miss Lindsay was sure it was Mrs Papa or Mr P. Eccels but when we asked them they said they hadn't sent us anything. It was also strange that the parcel was wet and smelt like fish!!
We decided to open the gift and it was a story book called , ' Lost and found' by Oliver Jeffers.
At break time, we found feathers on the playground. We knew something fishy was going on!
Later Mr Wheeldon called an impromptu assembly. But when we walked in, expecting to see our lovely Headteacher, instead we found .... PENGUINS!!! REAL LIFE PENGUINS IN OUR SCHOOL!!
It was such an exciting day and everything became clear...the penguins had decorated our school and ledt us all parcels.
Another fantastic Gymnastics lesson today with 2L. Miss Simms and Ms Lindsay are really seeing an improvement with how you are using the equipment and controlling your bodies. Today, we practised getting into a head stand by taking the weight on our hands - you all have tried so hard and preserved even though it's tricky! We also explored performing a 3 part routine.
At the end of the lesson we did some Yoga to cool down and relax. We are getting really good and being still and focusing on our breathing.
Adam was our photographer today and I must say he captured some great pictures! Thanks Adam!
