Write a letter, or draw a note to your past self. This activity is about looking back at the person you were with the information you have now.
Imagine you are 3 years old. Think about everything that you have learnt so far in your lives. Having spoken to all of you, I know that you are smart, caring and loving human beings. Even though you are still quite young, you all have learnt a lot and are experts in such different amazing things.
What would you want to tell yourself?
Do you have any tips or helpful pieces of knowledge that you would want to pass on?
What could you say to your past self to help them in their future?
What might you say to motivate yourself through hard times?
Are there any things that you have done wrong that you would tell yourself to avoid (not do)?
If you could tell your past self anything at all, what would it be?
I have added my own example for you all to read. This is from the heart. I have written to my 15 year old self as I am older than you all :)
Dear past self,
This is your future self writing to you about what you have to look forward to in the years ahead. I know you are feeling confused and like the world is flying around you right now, but trust me, you are going to figure it all out. I know you are worrying about what career you might have, how to be your best self, or which friends you should hang out with, but I promise you it will all be okay.
You will find the perfect job and you will stay friends with those who are important to you. Do not spend too much time worrying, as life is short. Spend time with your family as, they are and will always be, the most important thing.
Be brave and try new things, you might even enjoy them! And if you don't, then you will have a good story to tell. Don't do things because other people tell you to, do them because you believe they are the right thing to do. Believe in yourself and be proud of your achievements. Don't follow the crowd, make your own rules and don't be scared to speak up, if you think that is the right thing to do.
One day, you might look in the mirror and not like what you see. Just remember that everyone feels this way. We are not all perfect and we don't all look the same, but that is what makes you special is what makes you unique.
Don't give up! Be the best person you can be.
All the best,
Miss Broadbent (your future self)
