Happy Friday Year 2!
Well done for all your hard work this week. I've been so impressed with the fantastic maths learning you've done.
We're ending the week with another challenge. Today we'll be doing lots of work on bar models, as well as learning the terms 'factor' and 'product'.
Before we get started you will need:
- a few pieces of paper. A4 paper is great, but you could use the back of a cereal box or any old post
- something to write with
In the video the teacher shows you how to make your own bar models. Remember, we have done lots of work on bar models in class.
For the practice activity use your strips of paper to make your own bar models showing how you would count in twos. Then you have to try and write the multiplication equations to go with each bar model. As a final challenge, can you identify the product and factor in each equation? Perhaps you could use different colours to show the product and factor.
Leave me a multiplication equation (in the two times table) in the comments below. Can you tell me which numbers are the product and factor?
E.g. 20 = 10 x 2
The product is 20 and the factors are 10 and 2.
