In today's maths lesson, you're going to carry on learning about the value of coins.
You're going to look at some sets of 2p coins and see if you can work out the total. Have you been practising counting in two's? If you have, this is really going to help you today! Watch your lesson here...
If you want to practise making totals with 2p coins after your lesson, click on the link below to play the toy shop game -
Today you have some new spellings to learn. This weeks spelling rule is the "k" sound spelt "ck". Here are your words to learn and practice...
Learning spellings doesn't have to be boring! There are lots of fun ways to practice them. Here are some of my favourite ideas!
build your spelling words with lego?
make the words with dried beans or pasta shapes?
write the words in salt with your finger?
finger paint your spellings?
chalk out an alphabet grid on the pavement and jump on each letter in order to spell the word?

It's time for our first P4C lesson on google classroom! When we have a P4C lesson at school, we always remember to respect each others views and opinions. Whatever we think, might be different to what someone else thinks, and that's ok. Sometimes we have a debate in class, where we argue our points of view.
Meet spot and stripe - they love to argue about juicy questions!
Watch the video and decide who you agree with. Can you give a reason why? You might want to get everyone involved and have a family debate - remember to argue in a respectful way. Wait your turn to speak and listen to what other people have to say.
Yesterday you had a challenge to work out how much was in your purse?
What could you buy with that amount of money?
Today we are going to be using the part - part - whole model or the Cherry model to help with our coin work.
Continuing our work on money this week,we are going to look at session 8 of the NCETM.
Today we are going to be comparing values and making equal amounts. Have your coins and whiteboard/paper at the ready!!
How did you do with yesterdays challenge of sorting your coins into piles - 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p? Which pile had the most coins in?
Find your favourite cuddly toy and place it in front of you. Today we are going to do an observational drawing of your soft toy. Carefully looking at the shape, colour and texture. What is the basic shape? Draw it with your finger first, then draw it lightly in pencil. Continue to make a detailed drawing of your soft toy.
Looking forward to seeing your beautiful art work.
Hello Year 1, I hope you have had a good start to the week. The challenges looked really good yesterday and it was nice to see your comments. I know it can be quite difficult during these strange times with not being able to see your friends or family but you are all doing so well staying at home and making sure you have some fun as well as completing your school work. It is good to keep in mind that we are all having to do the same thing and it is not how we would normally live so being kind to the people around you is an important thing to remember. You might want to follow the kindness calendar that I have added a link to or you may want to create your own. I started my own kindness challenge today which was to do something kind for a person you live with. I made a lovely cup of tea for my husband. Tomorrow I am going to make my mum a card. What kind things are you going to do?
It was really great to see that you enjoyed making your own money and using it to open your own shop yesterday uing 1p coins. Your task today is continuing on with money but you will be introduced to 2p, 5p and 10p coins. You will then spend some time comparing the coins. For this challenge you will need a partner to work with, a bag and your own 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins. You may want to make your own, or find some coins before starting the challenge.
If you want to use your new coins from today you can use them in your shop and ask your family members if they would like to buy something else from your shop.
Today your activity is to write sentences and remember to use capital letters and full stops. You have also got to listen to and watch a video, remember facts and then write sentences about them. You can watch the video more than once if you need to. Remember to form your letters correctly and to make sure you also use finger spaces in between each word.
Here is a book for all you Year 1 superheroes to enjoy!
In this lesson you are going to practise again counting in 2s, 10s and 5s . Then you are going to start looking at money, starting with the 1p coin. At the end of the lesson, you are going to make your own shop. You can collect 1p coins or print and cut out the 1p coins I have attached. If you haven't got a printer or any 1p coins at home, try drawing and cutting out your own 1p coins. Then collect some items to sell in your shop. You can make price labels for your items and then have fun playing in your shop and exchanging your 1p coins for the items you want to buy.
