Y6 Sports Leaders Tournament

23/6/2017

Our year 6 Sports Leaders (School Games Crew) recently organised and delivered a dodge-ball tournament for year 5 and year 6. They arranged teams, fixtures and the awarding of prizes during assembly. They enjoyed it so much that they have planned another, before the end of the year.

They have provided a write up about their experience below:

WILBRAHAM YEAR 5-6 MULTI-SPORTS COMPETITION PROGRAMME

Here at Wilbraham, sports is a value, half way through year 6 two boys decided to team up and invent a life changing idea.
This programme provides many benefits for young blood. We provide a competitive side to sports to ensure that your child has a great future and a longer life. Sports can have a big impact on your child’s mental health. We all know that being physically active is good for our bodies. But our physical health and mental health are closely linked – so physical activity can be very beneficial for our mental health too.
Sports can decrease your weight and save you from deadly diseases such as diabetes, it also can improve physical strength.

WHAT SPORTS ARE WE DOING?
Currently we are holding dodgeball, football and tennis tournaments –more will be added in the future.

WHAT WE THINK:
‘All sports are valued to us’
‘Anyone can be good at sports’
‘Sporting heroes are adequate to change the world’
‘Sports inspire’
‘It is worth doing sports’
‘It never gets easy, you just get better’
‘Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard’
‘Success is when preparation and opportunity meet’
‘Push yourself  because no one else will do it for you’
‘Try something new’
‘Just do it’
‘When sweat pours down your face-  tell me you have worked hard’
‘Passion is key’
‘Never stop sports’
‘Sports were invented for a reason’
‘Want to be an actor or be a sports person, you are better off doing sports because sports carries an element of acting’
‘Don’t stop when you are tired’
‘Look in the mirror…thats your compitetion’
‘It dosent mater what people say about you- you should use that as a motivation to get better and prove them wrong’
