We recently attended a tournament held at the Cliff Training Ground (home of Manchester United F.C). We took a team of boys and girls from Year 5 and 6 who performed amazingly, but were very unfortunate to miss out on a place in the finals. We are very proud of all our young sports men and women in Wilbraham Primary School.
During the last two weeks, we have been competing in a basketball competition held at the Amaechi Centre in Whalley Range - home of the Manchester Magic Basketball Team. Our team was made up of year 4, 5 and 6 children from our weekly basketball club. They were very impressive, despite the very difficult competition, and everybody at Wilbraham Primary School is so proud!
This week Year 6 have been working really hard practising their SATs and enjoying lots of sports. All of the sporting activities were lead by the children themselves! In total, 16 children were trained as Sports Leaders this week, joining many others who already hold the title. They lead activities such as: table tennis, benchball, dodgeball, rounders and golf.
We are immensely proud of our hockey team who attended the Central Quicksticks Hockey League at Trinity High School this week. Amazingly, WE WON!!! We will now advance to the finals! The team, made up of boys and girls from Year 5 and 6, fought hard and played with great determination. Their record was 7 victories and 1 draw, topping the table and winning the league! We will play in the finals later this year.
We took some of our girls, from our weekly football club, to a tournament at the Cliff in Salford, the training centre of Manchester United F.C. They performed really well and earned some positive comments from other coaches and staff of Manchester United. The girls really enjoyed themselves and can’t wait to return.
