You may have heard the children talk about Manchester City and Anchor Literacy so I thought I would take the opportunity to explain what they are.
On a Monday we have a session with Ed from Anchor Literacy. He teaches the children fun songs and rhymes to help them remember important literacy facts and learning strategies. The children love it when Ed plays his guitar and the catchy tunes really help them remember. So far we have learnt songs about the name and the sound of letters, rhyming words and alliteration.
On a Monday afternoon Coach Jamie comes in from Manchester City football club. He works with the children on important core gross motor skills. These include ball control (throwing, catching, kicking,etc) and skills such as skipping, jumping, hopping and running. These are all important skills that young children need to develop and will help them with their learning in future years. They are especially important for writing.
