We hope you have had the most amazing break and have had lots of fun. Were looking forward to lots of fun and exciting times ahead of us for the next term.
This term we will be starting off with the story ROOM ON A BROOM by Julia Donaldson. We are very excited about reading this story and can not wait to show you all the fun activities we do. This term our topic will be celebrations. This week were learning all about bonfire night. Check the blog on Friday to see all the fun things we do this week!
This term we also went to the local library for a story session. We really enjoyed listening to the different stories and joining in with the actions. We sang some songs and showed the librarians how amazing our singing is. We sang one of our class favorites 5 cheeky monkeys swinging through the trees.
After the session we were all given a book to take home and keep forever. The name of the book was the little monkey - written by Marta Altes.
We have been working hard on our maths development this term. We have been learning about the cardinal rule of counting. We have been working extremely hard learning about different ways to count up to six. Did you know that you can count pretty much anything? You can count counters, bricks, people or even claps. It is very important to follow the rules of counting.
You must count slowly, pointing at one object a time. It is also a good idea to line up the objects so you don't count any twice.
This term we have also been busy making some yummy chocolate conkers. We talked about what the words ‘recipe’ and ‘ingredients’ mean. We looked at the recipe and talked about what ingredients we need. Then we discussed the importance of hand washing.
The children had a go at making their chocolate conkers in small groups. Their first job was to wash their hands! Secondly they crushed the biscuits and mixed them with mascarpone. Next, they had to roll their mixture into a ball, ready to go in the fridge. We had so much fun doing this activity! The chocalate conkers tasted delicious!!!
Were having such a great time in reception. We just cant believe how fast the days are going by. Were already in October.
We have had a fantastic week and here are some of this exciting things we have been doing.
Maths outside - Bring the learning environment outdoors
We really enjoyed doing this fun maths activity outside. The aim of the game was to throw balls into the tyres to get as many points as you can. We kept track of what points we have earned by writing them in a tally chart.
Manchester United is fun!
This week we also had our weekly session with Manchester united. We are developing our gross motor skill each session and having fun while we do!
Our Autumn walk
We also went on an autumn walk. We collected lots of things that showed us that autumn is here. We have a fabulous time and because we were soooooo sensible we even had time to go to the play area!
Each week will be joining in with Manchester city sessions. We have had two so far and are really, really enjoying them! Up to now we have practised our kicking, throwing and catching. Today we practiced hopping from one leg to another and learnt how to how on one leg but land on two. We enjoy practising our gross motor skills and we will be football super starts in no time!!!!
We have had a fantastic few days and would like to share some of the fun things we have done.
