As school is not yet open, we're going to be posting daily activity ideas, related to different areas of the EYFS curriculum and today is ....Music!
We love Music in Nursery, and alongside our weekly lessons with the instruments, when we listen, play and perform together, Music supports many other areas of our learning, including Communication and Language and Phonics. It is also fantastic for boosting our well being and having fun!
Here are some ideas to enjoy some music making and listening at home:
+ Make an easy musical instrument, using junk from your recycling and cupboard ingredients (instructions attached).
+ Go on a listening walk and listen carefully for environmental sounds such as ; your footsteps, birdsong, traffic noise, chatter, insects buzzing, car doors, leaves rustling. Listen carefully and then describe the sounds.
+Practice singing your favorite nursery rhymes and actions , can you hum/lala the tune or take turns missing words out, can you spot the rhyming words? (Search for 'Simple Songs' on Youtube if you want help learning some tunes)
Let us know in the comments how you're enjoying music at home, we love hearing from you and seeing your pictures.
