The first groups of the year began this week.
This one was Elliana, Oluwatomi, Maryam, Jokubus, Nada, Moses, Jerome, Bobby, Carla, Yasmin, Elicia and Yusuf.
It was too windy to risk going right into the woods as there is a risk of falling branches, so we rerouted to Bollington and a trip to White Nancy. The ridge walk in the wind was exhilarating and the views were breathtaking!!
Back at school, a chance to reflect on our day in the tipi with a cup of hot chocolate!
A good day for everyone!!
This groups second day was a scorcher!!
Up in the woods though it was very pleasant in the shade and we had time to make shelters and play games. Then we found the Dragon's breath and the Little People's village which had been destroyed!!
After we had rebuilt it, it was time to go exploring and climbing!!
Today's group was Atyab, Zuhayra, Mustafa, Soheli, Shahd, Didan, Riyad, Abdulateef, Heba, Retal, Kordae and Sumayah. What a fabulous day!! Thanks everyone! Enjoy the photos.
Here we have Kyson, Ziyad, Hajira, Jannat, Zeeshan, Michael, Marwa, Aaliyah, Jehad, Njla, Abdullah and Nancy.
Our second day was quite windy which meant putting up shelters was quite tricky. However we persevered and were pleased with the results. There were a few challenges, like going right into the cave and standing under the waterfall but our new suits proved to be invaluable when doing this !
One more day to go!
Day 2 for Hassan, Zainab, Mohamoud, Jallah, Adriela, Alaiyna, Apo, Ima, Taijo, Daniela, Amani and Essam started off very cold. A snowball fight warmed us up then we explored some ponds which were icy.
After lunch on the bus we went for a long walk, climbing rocks and down steep hills. We ended up at the waterfall which was fun to button up our waterproofs and stick our heads under!!
It was a very tiring but exciting day!
The first day for Njla, Jannat, Abdullah, Zeeshan, Marwa, Michael, Ziyad , hajira, Aaliyah, Jehad, Nancy and Kyron was a lot of fun.
We started on the school site with some games and then drove up to Alderley Edge.
There we explored the ponds, made shelters, had lunch and hot chocolate before exploring the woods. We went climbing and walking up streams before ending up at the waterfall.
A brilliant day!!
The first day for Jallah, Mohamoud,Amani, Apo, Zainab, Hassan, Taijo, Daniela,Alaiyna, Adriela, Essam and Ima was warmer than any session we had in February!
This meant we could play games and build shelters before lunch. Then it was hot chocolate time and a chance to explore the area we were in.
Then we went for a long walk to view sights, climb and scramble as well as visit the dark cave.
After a slow start everyone really got into the session and can't wait for the next one!
The last day for this group was the most exciting yet. A covering of snow when we got there was soon followed by further snowfall giving the woods a magical feeling.
Khalid, Sophie, Gurtejal, Mohammed, Maheen, Neveao, Shad, Ali, Ayaan and Rami had a day to remember!
Today was cold so we had to keep moving. it was the last day for this group so we did two long walks to finish off our Forest School experience.
It involved the usual climbing, scrambling and exploring. We ate lunch on the bus to keep warm then ventured out in the snow to climb a hill.
It was very tiring but enjoyable. Finally, it was back to school and hot chocolate to sit and reflect on our trips.
Today we managed 2 long walks as we didn't want to keep still and get cold.
First we went to Bollington to climb up a hill to see White Nancy which is a monument on top of a hill with fanatastic views of Cheshire.
After lunch, it was back to Alderley Edge as usual to do our long walk with climbing, scrambling and playing.
A touch of snow made it particularly pretty to look at!!
Our second day was action packed.
We played some new games then made fantastic shelters by learning to tie new knots. We could eat our sandwiches inside them if we wanted.
After hot chocolate and learning how to use the steels to make sparks, we went back to the cave for a quick reminder of what it was like.
In the afternoon, there was a lot of climbing, scrambling and exploring with everyone helping each other, finishing up at the waterfall which is very fast flowing at this time of year.
Our last day is still to come!!
Many of this group have been before so it was a good chance to try out some different activities,
The group was Ashwaq, Ali. Ayaan, Gurtejal, Sophie, Mohammed, Khalid, Shad, Maheen, Rami and Wahida.
After some games to get to know each other it was time to follow a trail to build rockets for the elves to fly to Santa's workshop to help make next year's toys!
We needed to decorate the rockets, prepare the fuel and launch them.
After lunch it was a long walk to climb and explore!
Today was the first day for Aziza,Iosif, Obeeyd,Meerub, Sadan,Jai, Kendra, Hasib, Ismail, Tazeen and Momina.
Firstly, we had the chabce to make bird boxes with Tim, the Forest Warden. After some nifty handiwork with hammers and nails we had to paint all of them. We will bring some back to school for our own area next week.
Then it was lunchtime on the bus to keep warm.
In the afternoon we played games and went exploring. We found a long cave, a giant cliff and a devil's grave along the way.
Today, Rudii, Taha, Adam, Koyel, Shayla, Matthew and Bilal, braved the elements for a fun day in the snow!
The last day for our smaller group was very exciting. When we got to Alderley Edge there was a smattering of snow. But it hid the mud and we were quickly getting cold. So plan B was to go back to the minibus and warm up then drive to Bollington to find some better snow and a hill to climb.
That was more like it! A great time was had by evryone scrambling about in the snow!!
