This was the first day for Khadija, Matthew, Rudii, Shayla, Adam, Khalid, Taha, Inaya, Anabia, Sana and Bilal.
The weather was fine and warm for the time of year. We played games, made shelters then had hot chocolate. After tidying our site we went exploring and manged to climb, scramble and even go right in the scary cave.
It was very tiring but a lot of fun. Can't wait for next time!
This group is Ali, Mukarmah, Shanya, Asma, Abdullah, Omar, Teegan, Raza, Yaseen and May. Our first day was cold and wet but that didn't make much difference to our day.
We had to make a shelter first to keep our things dry but after that it was business as usual with games, hot chocolate and a long walk with climbing, scrambling, team work and some amazing views!
Luckily, today was the day after the storm so we were able to have our final day for this group.
Zain, Hafsah, Samara, Aiden, Aalaa, Mohammed,Corey, Imran,Bushra and A'Atika were a great team today.
After our introductions we played a game based on Rock, Paper, Scissors called Hunter, Mammoth, Mouse. It was hilarious!
After this we made some shelters with natural materials and we were impressed with each other's efforts.
After lunch it was hot chocolate, tidy up and a trip to the cave.
A long walk involved walking across fields, down streams, climbing up rocks and scrambling up steep slopes .
What a great team! Thankyou everyone!
Here are Ellie, Laila, Ayob, Suhail, Edward, Graceson, Kobie, Ayah, Syed, Abdulmeteen and Shna enjoying their second day in the forest. Omar joined us today as we had a space on the minibus. We were so lucky with the weather again as it was warm and dry all day.
A good day to learn some new knots, build shelters, discover the cave (scary!!) and climb some slopes. Well done to everyone for sticking at it on a tiring day. The most fun, however is the mud!! Everyone loves the mud (apart from Shna!)

Well what a wet day to start our forest school experience with! We had so much fun though.
Here are Ellie, Laila, Ayob, Suhail, Edward, Graceson, Kobie, Ayah, Syed, Abdulmeteen and Shna enjoying their first day in the forest. We were so lucky with the weather especially after yesterday's group got drenched by the rain!
However, we still all managed to get drenched but this time through choice. The waterfall is irresistible!
There was even a badger today - a first for everything - and the blackberries were very tasty!!
Can't wait for the next time!
Our on-site group enjoyed their last session this week. They were able to consolidate their learning by putting up a shelter, without any adult help!! They also learnt some new skills, including whittling and fire lighting. They talked about the importance of safety when using tools and lighting fires. They used the wood that they had whittled to light a fire, in the Kelly Kettle, to make some hot chocolate! What a treat!!
Leena has enjoyed her experience so much, that she wanted to contribute to the final blog.
At forest school we have a lot of fun and we learnt a lot of surviving tips. We made tents/shelters, fire, pictures and picture frames. We learnt how to make a fire; use flint and steel; cut wood with a knife; make really really strong knots to make the shelters and many other stuff . We got to drink hot chocolate and orange juice and I hope I go again.
The last day always seems to be the best and once again we didn't have enough time to do everything we wanted to. However, we packed as much as we could in and had a brilliant time. Thanks to Scarlet, Muzzamil, Setareh, Sebastien, Evie, Olivia, Tanya, Uzair, Morgan, Lewis, Ranem and the absent Maison for taking part with such enthusiasm!!
The day wasn't long enough to do all we wanted to do but we packed in as much as we could!
Shelter building, tent making, drinking hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows, picture making , using tools, climbing, caving , exploring and working together all featured on our day. Enjoy the photos!

In forest school you learn about things to do in nature life. In forest school we built dens, explored places, and we even went into caves in the dark. Forest school is an amazing experience and is set in Alderley Edge. (Muzzamil 5W)
In forest school I made a lots of new friends and learnt about nature, its was fun when we went into the cave it was my first time. We even got to build a shelter its was sooo fun at Alderley edge! ( Scarlet 5G )
Our on-site group enjoyed their second - slightly wetter- session today. We talked about the activities they enjoyed last time and discussed how the area might have changed.
We came across a tree that had been covered in a mysterious substance. We later discovered that this was 'Dragons Breath'. it meant that there had been a visit from a dragon! We used his breath to make bracelets that would identify us and keep us safe from the dragon.
We then made shelters, using our knowledge from the previous session, to help protect us from the rain. From there we played some 'hide and seek' games. These games required us to be able to use our knowledge of the area to describe the location of certain objects.
To finish with we discussed the different trees we could see, how were they different? and what can we look for to spot differences? We managed to identify Ash, Oak, Silver Birch, Larch and Sycamore by using the bark and the leaves.
