What a wonderful first day together as a group. We spent the morning exploring our Forest School space in particular the ripples we could make in the water.
After some lunch we headed out into the bigger forest where we found the magic wishing tree.
Time for a bit of scrambling! Who would make it to the top?
Time to help the Forest Ranger Tim put some bird boxes up that the other group had made. Tim taught us which direction the bird boxes need to be facing to keep the eggs safe. We used a compass to make sure we chose trees facing the correct way.
New friends, new experiences.

We started the day by meeting Tim the Forest Ranger. We talked about what animals we might find in the forest and what we could make that might help them. Tim showed us a bird box and explained that we were going to make some for the forest and school. Tim then demonstrated how to make the bird box.
Time for us to do it now!
Now time for us to paint our amazing bird boxes so that they blend in with their surroundings.
Off to explore the forest now. We had great fun playing 1,2,3 where are you? We discovered some amazing hiding places. We even came across the dragons cave but unfortunately he wasn't home. We will try again next time.
Wow it's a bit wet and cold today!
Time to build a shelter.
Off to find the deep dark cave.
Time to explore these beautiful woods.

We discovered our little peoples village today. The forest dragon had swooshed away some of the village so we helped rebuild it today. We built play areas, shops, an airport and lots of houses. We had so much fun.
To review our time at forest school as a group we made journey sticks. Our journey sticks had things attached that reminded us each of things from forest school. We were able to talk about specific activities and experiences that we will remember from Forest School. Memories.
Today we spent a lot of time exploring how to use knives safely and for a purpose. We worked together to whittle the wood so we could make a fire to make some hot chocolate to enjoy.
What a day for views!
Brilliant team work today putting up shelters. Working hard to remember the knots needed to make our shelters. Perfect treat at the end of the morning though - hot chocolate!
