This term, we will be looking at instructional writing in English. Over the weekend, can you see if you see any instructions in your day to day life? If you find any examples, I would love to see them!
In Maths, we will be continuing using pictorial representations such as cherry models and bar models to show addition and subtraction. We will be using redistribution and partitioning to add and subtract numbers over 100,000.
Our new class book is called 'The Boy in the Tower' by Polly Ho-Yen. The novel is set in London and it is written by a primary school teacher (who knows where she found the time?!). The book follows young Ade as the tower blocks surrounding his house start to fall down because of the Bletchers....I loved this book and hope the children do too!
In Geography, we will be learning about Mexico and comparing it to the United Kingdom! On the last week of term I will be turning the classroom into a Mexican fiesta, so we need to know as much as possible about the culture, landscape, biomes and climate before our 'trip'.
In Science, we will be continuing to explore the properties of materials through a range of experiments. The class will have to design and carry out their own experiments, as well as finding clear and accurate ways of recording the data.
