At the beginning of the summer term we re-launched our 4R home reading system.
It is incredibly important that your child reads at home to benefit all areas of their Literacy and develop a positive attitude towards and love of reading.
Each child has been provided with a reading record in which to keep a log of all their home reading and write short book reviews etc. They have chosen a book from our class library and should aim to change the book once a week (more frequently if they require and if your child is challenging themselves with longer texts then it is understandable that these will take longer to read). Children can also include reading of other books/magazines /blogs etc in their reading record.
I've been very impressed with the amount of children who have met their target of showing me their reading record and book once a week and it's fantastic to see their renewed enthusiasm for reading and hear about all the new texts and stories they are enjoying!
Let me know in the comments what you're currently reading, I'm listening to 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' (again!)- as narrated by Stephen Fry and reading 'Wonder' by RJ Palacio.
