As part of our River topic last half term we listened to a piece of music by the composer Bedrich Smetana. He created the piece of music 'Vlatava' based on The River Moldau in the Czech Republic.
We listened to the piece and used it as inspiration to create our own River Music. Each table group was given a part of the river to create through their music (the source, the upper course, the middle course, the lower course and the mouth). The children were fantastic and created beautiful group pieces which we performed one after another to create a whole class musical journey of a river!
For your half term holiday I have asked if you could make a rain gauge at home and collect the data on the sheet I provided.
Remember to bring the data you collect back in the first week, so we can put it on your Excel sheet and start to write our reports up ready for filming.
The videos to help you are below.
If you want to take pictures and send them to me for the blog email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
Remember the Excel sheet looks like this
We went on code.org today and explored the coding games available for hour of code.
4J had a great day today in the library. We used our fab ideas to help plan an event that will take place in the library in January 2019. Everyone tried their hand at calligraphy, it was very tricky but lots of fun. On a tour of the library, we posed for pictures taken on a 360 degrees camera. We even got to have a sneak peek in the secret downstairs archives where all of the really old and delicate books are kept!
To end our topic on human teeth we conducted an experiment to investigate which popular drink would cause the worst tooth decay. We used eggs to represent a human tooth as they have a shell that is very similar to tooth enamel. We ensured it was a fair test by keeping everything the same apart from our one variable - the liquids. The results were shocking!
Will you ever drink your favourite drink without brushing again?
Make sure you keep practising ready for our test on Monday morning!
The last couple of days we have been learning all about teeth.
We made some fantastic models of teeth and some great information posters.
Here is the song we've been listening too.
