Today everyone, from Reception to Year 6, completed activities based on the illustrated picture book 'Journey' by Aaron Becker. We had a great day talking about the illustrations and predicting what may happen next. Take a look at some of our freeze frames....
Year 4 were very lucky to have a cricketer, from Lancashire County Cricket Club, come to teach us some cricketing skills. We had a fantastic time, taking part in team games whilst developing our talents.
During our PE lessons we have been focusing on Gymnastics, developing our flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance. I have been so impressed by 4S' gymnastic abilities and can't wait to see more skills.
On Fridays with Ms.Hulston we have been busy doing lots of learning through art. We have explored making marks with different pencils, graphite sticks, and charcoal. We then explored marks in colour, using pastels and oil pastels. We tried drawing self-portraits in lots of different ways, some in thirty seconds, some with our eyes closed, some with our non-dominant hand. We then used mirrors and learnt how to really look closely at our faces, at our skin tone and our features and drew some amazing self-portraits in pencil, then in colour. We looked at lots of different self portraits made by artists and discussed how they made the art works and how the portraits made us feel.
