The children are all really enjoying working on the Victorian's topic. We have been finding out all about what it would be like to be a child living 150 years ago and we are very glad that we don't live then, but we live in 2017!
In Maths we have been working on fractions and addition and subtraction. This week we will be looking at multiplication and division. Can you remember how to use M4 and D5a?
Try working out 21x8 or 53 divided by 6!
In Literacy we have completed our playscripts and they are brilliant! The children have invented lots of mean Victorian adults in charge of children in various places from mines to workhouses, from schools to mills. They enjoyed being able to decide whether their play would end happily or sadly. This week we are going to look at completing stories. We'll be using inverted commas for speech and expanded noun phrases to help our readers. Try expanding 'Mr. Smythe, the mill owner, called down the stairs to the apprentices.'
We are looking forward to lots of things in class over the next couple of weeks!
This week we will be visited by some of our friends from Burtonwood school, we look forward to seeing them again. Next week we are going on our trip to Quarry Bank Mill. We can't wait for that, so remember to pay and get your permission letter in as soon as possible!
