As part of our music curriculum, the whole school from nursery to year 6 are given the same piece of music that they listen to each week. After we have listened to it, we discuss the instruments we heard, the tempo, the style or genre, our mood and how it makes us feel. Sometimes we like to dance or mimic playing the instruments. We even draw a picture that we feel matches that piece of music.
Just like having a favourite book, you can also have a favourite piece of music too! Every week it will be a different piece of music. This week we have listened to 'Mess Around' by Ray Charles.
Last week we listened to 'March of the Toreadors', this piece of music was from an opera called Carmen.
We listened to the music without any other stimulus. Have a look at an orchestra playing the music. What instruments can you see?
