We arranged the skittles around our plate and then poured hot water over the skittles to watch the vibrant colours run through the plate like a colourful rainbow!
This week, the science leaders from year 6 came to help us with some science experiments. We learnt how to make a battery powered by a lemon and a copper coin. We also learnt about density and electrons, neutrons and protons.
Today we created our own story boards based upon our 'Du Iz Tak' book...but there is a twist....

Today, we came into school dressed up as our favourite book character! We looked at a book called 'Du Iz Tak', which was written entirely in the language of Bug!
Here we are, exploring different inventions from the Victorian period. We looked at the telephone, the light bulb, the camera, the bicycle and the car.
Today we have been experimenting with magnets. We discovered that not all coins are magnetic and that we can make a compass out of a needle! We also learnt how to make a paperclip float in the air!

This week we have been learning about a new poem called The Owl and the Pussycat. Today we made scene setting art and performed our drama, acting out our new poem.
Today we took part in a very special orchestra workshop! We had the opportunity to listen to talented musicians play famous theme tunes using their chosen instruments and had the chance to express how different parts of the music made us feel. We also learnt the names of some of the musical instruments that were used such as the Chello, Viola and Clarinet!
Today during our P4C lesson, we discussed why we might need help, the different types of support that there are and why some people would like / would not like help in certain situations. We took turns to listen to each other's points of view and respected the thoughts and reflections of others.
Today we used drama to express feelings and consolidate our understanding of our Victorian work house text!
This term we have been practicing the Waltz, which is a form of ball / formal dance and a popular favourite from the Victorian era. Through this specific type of dance style, we have learnt about good posture, being courteous and showing respect to each other.
We have been trying to run one mile every day as part of a whole - school challenge. The benefits of doing this include an improvement to cardio respiratory fitness, prevention of lifestyle diseases and building stronger bones and muscles.
