Our History topic is The Stone Age. We have learnt about Stone Age humans and how they lived their lives. Here 3A have made caves - the first homes from the Stone Age Period!!
3A also added in extra detail by using oil pastels to draw in their own cave paintings.
In our new ICT topic we are going to create a class book review for the Iron Man using Adobe Spark. We will be presenting our thoughts and opinions about the book.

Year 3 celebrated Black History Month by looking at the achievement of two British athletes, Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill. We created amazing portraits using inspiration from the Manchester artist Chris Ofili.
3A looked at why we celebrate Bonfire Night, who Guy Fawkes was and his plan to blow up the parliament. We then created our own firework pictures using different coloured chalk. The children created some amazing pictures.
3A really enjoyed making their Volcano models and creating and eruption!
National Poetry Day!
3A have been using what they already know in order to add two two digit numbers together using different equipment.
In English the children have been learning about the different features of a recount. Here we are activating our prior knowledge and applying what we have learnt in to help us order this recount text.
The children have been learning about Volcanoes as part of our Natural Disasters topic. We have been looking at how they are formed and how an eruption caused. Here we are labelling different parts of a Volcano.
Every week we listen to a different piece of music and respond in different ways. So far this month we have listened to ' Mess Around' by Ray Charles 1957 and 'Symphony No.5 Movement No.1'
by Ludwig Van Beethoven 1808. The class love listening to different genres!
All hard work deserves a great reward!
We have had lots of fun getting to know our new class but It has also been a busy September for 3A. Here are some of the new and great things we've been learning this month.
We have been looking at complements of 100 and then applying our new found knowledge practically using money, base ten and counters. 3A have been great at finding different types on angles around our classroom.
3A have been working on expanding their vocabulary and now finding alternative adjectives to help them in their writing.
We have had a fantastic time working with our Manchester City coach. We have been working on our passing and team-building skills.
In Geography we have been looking at Natural Disasters.
We have been creatively exploring the different layers of the Earth and looking at how Tectonic Plates work.
We have had a lot of fun learning new words and phrases with Mr Tawil. 3A are always eager to learn and practice with each other. All the children are growing in confidence with some children being able to answer to the register in arabic. Amazing!!
In Art we have been looking at the artist Gustav Klimt, a symbolist painter. We were so inspired by all his paintings that we decided to create our own Gustav inspired display!
