We made it! Hooray! Well done everyone on a great first half-term. We hope you continue with your hard work and good behaviour next half-term.
Here are a few things you might want to try and do over the next week:
We look forward to seeing your smiling faces on Monday 29th October.
This week in our spelling lessons we have been learning all about adding the suffix-y to the end of root words. Here are some of the rules:
Can you write any sentences using words with a -y suffix? e.g. Ms Tang is such a funny teacher.
What do these words all have in common?
They all have a soft C in them! That means they have a C, but actually make a soft S sound.
We have been learning about these words in our spelling lesson. Here are some other words we looked at:
fence, prince, princess, ice, exercise, excited, circus, pencil, cell
Can you remember any other words? Why don't you have a go at putting them into sentences.
Have a look at this website which gives you lots of other words with a soft C:
Here are some links to some fun games you can play:
You may need to ask an adult to help you copy and paste the websites in a new window.
Every Thursday we do yoga in the new hall. We are working on some amazing yoga postures which will improve our body strength, balance, co-ordination and focus.
As part of our Heroes topic we are looking at Pop Art. We learnt that it actually stands for popular art and it was intended to be young, fun, bright and colourful. We looked at the work of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein- he mostly used the colours blue, red, yellow and white. He also used dots in his art work. He liked to use noisy words (onomatopoeia!) that we often find in comic strips.
We chose our favourite noisy word and had a go at creating some art work inspired by Lichtenstein. Later on we will be painting this.
Today we had two paramedics visit us with their ambulance. It was so exciting! Before they visited we had a think about some of the questions we would like to ask them. Here are some of the questions we came up with:
We got to have a look inside the ambulance and find out what some of the special equipment did. Some of us also pretended to be patients and we got to try the stretcher. Then some of us pretended to be paramedics and treat the patients. It made us realise what an important job paramedics do; they really are heroes!
Have a look through the pictures and tell an adult about what you did.
Remember, if you don't already know your full name and full address it is really important to try and learn this!
