In Literacy we have been doing lots of work on 'The Tunnel' by Anthony Browne. In the story we never find out what happened to Jack when he crawled into the tunnel. How did he get turned into stone?
In small groups we came up with our own ideas about what happened to Jack. Some children in the class have a super imagination!
To prepare for writing next week we did some drama where we had to act out what we thought happened and then freeze. Have a look at our freeze frames and see if you can work out what we're doing.
I can't wait to read the children's stories next week!
In Art we have started looking at Pop Art. One of the artists we will be studying this term is Roy Lichtenstein who was famous for his comic strip inspired paintings. We looked very carefully at his use of colour- can you remember the colours he used? He also used a special technique called pointillism where he painted with tiny dots. We tried to copy this in our drawings.
What do you think of our work?
Wow! I'm so impressed! Can you believe that out of 28 children, only 3 children forgot their PE kits? If you or your adult forgot your kit then dont' worry; just try to remember next week.
In Dance we are doing a dance about soldiers fighting off alien invaders. This is part of our topic 'Do all heroes wear a cape?' We had to listen carefully to the music and move in time to the beat which was really fast. It was SO MUCH FUN and by the end Ms Tang had a serious sweat on! Even the adults got involved with dancing. Who do you think did the best dancing: Mrs Molla or Ms Tang?
It was so lovely to see so many happy and smiling faces this week- what a wonderful start to the year.
In 2T you are lucky enough to have not one, but TWO teachers in the class.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it's Ms Tang.
On Thursday and Friday it's Mr Williams.
We also have lots of different adults helping in the class including Ms Anderson, Ms Randeniya and Mr Carpenter (that's Adam if you're unsure!).
Please bring your book bag in every day to school. Next week we will be issuing reading books for you to take home, but often we like to read with you in school too. Books will be changed every week. If you would like more books to take home there is a lending library every morning before school in the foyer next to 2L.
This term we will be doing Dance and Outdoor Games in P.E. It's a good idea to bring your P.E. kit in at the beginning of the week, leave it in school and then take it home at the end of the week. For your P.E. kit you will need: a white t-shirt, blue/black shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms and trainers/pumps.
If you have any questions please make sure you talk to either Ms Tang or Mr Williams.
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Despite the short notice (sorry!), we had a great turn out for our first Stay and Read. Thankyou to those who made it!!
Every Friday from 9.00am for about half an hour parents/carers/family can come and join in activities in the classroom. You can come every week, or just when you can make it. It is very casual and meant to be fun while showing you some of the things we get up to
And to finish every session , you are also invited to join in our Mile-a-Day run which involves a lot of classes on Friday mornings.
