We are learning a new skill this term: how to play African drums.
We have been learning about keeping in time and playing a beat, then changing the rhythm from 4 beats in a bar to 3 beats in a bar. Sometimes we have to play on our own and it is hard to remember the beats and which hand to play with!!
Banana, pineapple!! ... a good chant to remind us of the 3 beat bars.
You can practise on your knees -- good luck!
In Literacy we have been looking at how we can improve our writing using expanded noun phrases.
Sounds tricky right? Well, it's actually super simple.
It's just a phrase and at least one adjective e.g. the busy, smoke-filled streets.
We spent some time using oil pastels to create our own picture inspired by the Great Fire of London and then added some expanded noun phrases to describe them.
I think you'll agree that we have some truly amazing artists in 2T!
What an exciting afternoon! We re-enacted the Great Fire of London in 1666 using our own 17th century houses. We used the same method to extinguish the fire as people tried in those days. We had to stand in a line and pass water forwards and empty cups back to achieve our goal. All of Y2 was involved and we managed to put the fire out but not before most of our houses had been destroyed. It took a lot of teamwork to enable us to do it. Well done Y2!!
