Today, Mr. Eccles brought Rex, the school dog, into our class to meet us.
We had lots to ask about him and he was very calm while our questions were answered. Some people don't like dogs and they could sit further away if they wished. He was so friendly that no-one was worried by him.
Many people are looking forward to helping look after him when he's older
We have had more children start making their puppets this week. I promised 2S that I would take lots of photos to put on the blog to show you all.
In science we are investigating the germination process.
Every single seed has the beginnings of a new plant inside it, along with a little store of food to help it grow. When the conditions are right, the seed soaks up water and swells. The tiny new plant bursts out of its shell. This is called germination.
We planted our seeds in wet compost and soil. Over the next few days we will be checking to see if our seeds have gone through the germination process.
You can find a video about the germination process on this website:
The photograph below was taken on day 2. Can you see that the seed coat is beginning to split?
We have had some fantastic writing produced in 2S this week. The children have been learning how to write a balanced argument. We used evidence from the story of Jack and the Beanstalk to justify our arguments. A balanced argument has to include both sides of the story.
In our writing we have used lots of different phrases such as:
In my opinion..
I think that ...
The character Jack is ...
In the story ....
The children have also used lots of adventurous word choices to keep the reader interested.
Look at our amazing work...
