Before the holidays we familiarised ourselves with the features of a Medieval Castle.
We painted some boxes and used them to construct our own castle.
First, the Keep and the Bailey.
Then, the outer wall and the moat.
Now a bridge to get in, some buildings in the Bailey and some arrow slits.
Some animals and people help finish our model.
I'm very pleased with how well the class have responded to learning about multiplication and using arrays to solve multiplication problems.
Have a look at these arrays. What multiplication calculations do they show?
In literacy we have carried on with our work based on the Queen's Hat.
In pairs we worked together to create a storymap. We could then use our storymap to retell the original story. Then we decided to innovate the original story and create a new story based in Manchester. We worked in groups to plan our new story. We discussed what the Queen could lose and where it would go. We stuck some new pictures on our storymap and practised telling our new story. Later on we added some speech and time adverbials to make it more interesting for the reader.
Have a look at our storymaps.
