We had an interesting visitor in our class today ...she was dressed in clothes from 1666 and told us lots of information about the Great Fire Of London. The visitor was called Kate and she is also an Author of the book 'Vlad and the Great Fire Of London!'
We read her story and made crackling fire noises. It was lots of fun! We found out from Vlad (the flea) how the fire started and spread throughout London in 1666. We learnt about a man called Samuel Pepys...you'll never guess what he decided to save from the fire!! (Tell your family the answer)
Next, Kate showed us some interesting first hand sources from the time of the GFL. She showed us a leather bucket and a silver coin. We thought these were really fascinating! Later we acted out putting the fire out in long lines, using the leather bucket. It would have taken a long time!
Finally, we met Vlad the flea and Boxton the rat....see if you can spot him in our pictures!
Who can tell their family what Kate's hat and dress are called?
