In year 2 we have been learning all about leading a healthy lifestyle. Hygiene is very important to leading a healthy lifestyle.
What does hygiene mean?
Hygiene is all about cleanliness and preventing the spread of germs. Germs are tiny organisms that an cause diseases and make you poorly.
2L carried out an investigation to show how easily germs can be passed from person to person.
First, we rubbed some lotion into our hands.
Then we put a tiny amount of glitter onto our partners hands. The glitter represented the germs! We then put both of our hands together and saw that the germs had been transferred to the other hand.
Ms Stapleton asked us to shake hands with our partner! We noticed that the germs had spread to our partner's hand. Eugh!!!
We tried to rub the germs off with a paper towel but it was no use. They were still there.
We had to wash our hands thoroughly with soap and water to get rid of the germs.
Lovely, clean, germ -free hands!
Today we have learnt that germs can be found in lots of different places. Washing your hands is the best way to stop germs from spreading.
When should you wash your hands? What can you remember from today's lesson?
