Today we had our first Gymnastics lesson . We were super speedy getting ready and listened really well during the Gymnastics session. We explored some new shapes, ways of travelling and balances. Over the next few weeks we'll be exploring these in greater depth and then putting them together to perform a sequence.
Every Wednesday we have our Man City football session with Mr Lloyd. He is such a great coach and he is helping us become better at our football skills.
So far we have been learning to:
Week 1 - Send and receive a ball.
Week 2- Running and Catching Games.
Practising cup catch, bounce catch and W catch.
We played some throwing games too. We had to shout our our friends name before we threw the ball to them.
This weekend ( if the weather is good) you could go to the park and show your family the new skills you have learnt.
Last week 2L joined in with the Bodycoach 1ominute fitness work out. We talked about the importance of being fit and healthy. We really enjoyed tuning into the LIVE sessions with the Bodycoach.
You could even have a go doing the 10 minute exercises at home with your family!
Every Friday morning we will have a Stay and Read or Stay and b Creative for the Year 2 Parents.
A big thank you to everyone so far for coming into school over the past two weeks.
Have a look at the pictures below to see what we've been doing
Last week the parents and carers came into school to help the children paint a stone. In class we had read the story, ' Only one you' by Linda Kranz. We discussed how we are all special and unique. We discussed how there is only one of us in this world so we should be the best 'you' that you can be.
To celebrate being unique we decided to paint a stone in the colours, patterns we liked best. Once the stones are varnished and dried we are going to make a ' unique footpath' in the forest school area.
We'll keep you updated with the progress.
You can listen to the book below in the link.
On Tuesday mornings we have Anchor session with George. We need to get into school quickly as we don't want to miss a second of our fun, engaging Anchor session.
This week we learnt about nouns. Can you tell your family what a noun is? George also played some super getting to know you games. This session was full of learning and laughter! Thanks George!
I know we've only started back to school but the children have really impressed me with their great attitude to learning and kindness towards each other.
We've be writing all about ourselves ,painting and learning how to use a paintbrush, learning skills in forest school with Mr Williams and Mrs Crummett, finding out what we have in common with other children in our class, learning how to play the new Year 2 Maths games, reading stories about starting back to school and discussing emotions.
Have a sneaky peak at our pictures and add a comment too.
A big hello and welcome back to all the children and their families in 2L. I hope you've had a nice summer break and are ready to start a new school year!
We've had a busy and exciting first few days settling into 2L. The children have been finding out about their teachers and the teachers have been kept busy remembering everyone's name and finding out a little about them. We have played getting to know you games and all had a good laugh when Ms Linday kept mixing up children's names.
We know the first few days can be daunting and emotional for the children but we promise that we'll take good care of them. We kindly ask that parents and carers say goodbye to the children at the entrance and don't come into the classroom as it prevents us from starting our important lessons.
If you need to pass a message to me regarding your child, please tell the member of staff at the door who will then tell the adults in the classroom. On the other hand, you can pass any messages to the office or you can make an appointment to speak with me formally .
I will be available at the end of the day if you need a quick, informal chat. :)
Over the next few weeks please be patient with me as I start recognise your faces and who you are collecting. The children have been asked to tell the adults dismissing them to point out who they are going home with and they are not to run away without doing this. This is to ensure the safety of your children so I know you will be supportive with this.
If you are asking someone else (neighbour/ friend / sibling) to collect your child you need to let either the office or teacher know in advance.
I'm really looking forward to having a wonderful year with all the children and families in 2L.
