Today was a very exciting day! We spent the afternoon working as a team to put out a real life FIRE! Just like in the Great Fire of London, we passed small cups of water down a line to our friends to throw on the fire. We realised how long it took all 90 of us to put out such a small fire and this got us thinking about how difficult it must have been during the Great Fire of London all those years ago in 1666.
In our Design and Technology sessions this half term 2B are exploring bread! This is because the Great Fire of London is our new topic and it is thought that the fire started in a bakery. 2B started exploring bread by tasting lots of different types and evaluating what they tasted like. Some we loved and some we didn't like at all! Enjoy our tasting pics!
In our Guided Reading sessions we have been reading a book called Dinosaur Trouble!
We have reached an exciting part of the story where Baby Nosy and Baby Banty have become friends, however their families are NOT happy about it!
Check out our cool Freeze Frames of 2B acting out a tense scene.
This week in our Art sessions, we have been exploring the artwork of Laurence Stephen Lowry, who is a famous painter from Manchester. We enjoyed exploring his 5 painting colours... it was very messy in our classroom!
Can you remember Lowry's 5 colours?
Today, Year 2 spent the morning exploring special places of worship in our local community.
We spent some time in a local Mosque and in a Church. We talked about what was different in each place and what was the same. We all learned so much today and all of the teachers were extremely proud of how respectful all of the children were when learning about different religions. Well done 2B!
In 2B we have spent lots of time learning our number bonds to 10. We made up a super way to always remember to make 10 first when adding two numbers...the number bond bean!
Check out our beany maths work using ten frames to bridge ten. You clever little beans!
As a way to end our fantastic Heroes topic, it was time for 2B to become heroes themselves. During our trip we had to face our fears, be brave and even jump from heights! I am so proud of everyone for facing their fears and being brave this week. You are all amazing! Enjoy our super pictures of our trip.
Keep being mini super heroes guys!
