What a super time at the spooky disco! There was lots of dancing, happy smiles and fantastic spooky costumes! There was even time for some fireworks outside at the end!
We hope you all had a spooktacular time!
There was a special visitor in 1B this week...a DINOSAUR!
We arrived at school to find our classroom had been trashed with only footprints as clues. We even checked the school camera to see who it was! The clever 1B found a note from our visitor that led us all around the school on a hunt for a special package.
It was a DINOSAUR EGG!!! What a brilliant start to our new topic all about dinosaurs!
I wonder if the egg has hatched over the weekend...
This afternoon, 1B braved the cold outdoors and went on an awesome autumn hunt! We explored the signs around us that show us what season it is. We discovered lots of trees had started to lose their leaves and many of them had fallen to the floor! We loved all of the different colours shown on the leaves including, green, red, yellow, orange and brown! Back in class we drew special pictures to remember what we had explored outside. I think everyone's favourite part of the afternoon was playing with all of the crunchy leaves and throwing them in the air!

Wow, what another exciting day in 1B!
As part of our topic, People who help us, Year 1 were lucky enough to be visited by the local Fire Brigade. The morning was brilliant, 1B met some brave and courageous fire fighters!
As a class we learned lots about what fire fighter's wear to keep them safe, the equipment they use and the fire engine they drive. We even got a chance to use the special hose! What a fantastic end to a super topic!

In 1B we love reading!
We are trying really hard to read more often and to read a range of exciting books. We especially love reading because we can read...anywhere!
Check out our pics of our favourite places to read a good book. Where will you be reading this weekend?
As part of our exciting topic, People Who Help Us, this week we have learned all about Nurses! We explored what equipment a nurse may use and what a nurse would have in their bag. 1B produced some fantastic work this week, including some super writing and brilliant medicine kits.
Can you remember anything about a nurse?
We had such a fantastic Gymnastics session in 1B this week! We are getting much better at walking over to the hall sensibly and getting out the equipment safely. 1B loved warming up playing the bean game with our friends and then practising our rolls and jumps using the equipment! Check out our super pics!
Every Monday morning, 1B are lucky enough to work with Ed and have an Anchor session! This means that we come into the classroom nice and quickly on a Monday morning so that we can make the most of our fun sessions with Ed.
So far we have explored adjectives and conjunctions.
Can you remember any adjectives or conjunctions?
This week, 1B have started a brand new topic all about People Who Help Us. In particular we explored the roles of Police Officers, discussing how they keep us safe. On Thursday, our class was lucky enough to meet two real Police Officers that work in our community. As a class we listened excellently to our special visitors and had lots of fantastic questions to ask. 1B even had the chance to see P.C Pete's special police car, sirens, baton, handcuffs and Police hats! Well done to everyone in 1B for making our visitors feel so welcome.
